A new acquisition in 2010. Walverden is a disused united utilities reservoir on the outskirts of Nelson Lancashire. It is about 5 acres in size and has around 20 fishing pegs including around 6 “Bivvie pegs” The reservoir is well noted locally for its good head of carp to mid 20lbs but also holds good bream, Tench, Roach and Perch.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Species

Carp – Good head of quality Carp to 20lb +

Bream – Some good specimen sized bream to 10lb.

Roach – Quality Roach fishing with roach from 2oz to 2lb.

Tench – A few Tench to around 6lb

Methods

Carp come to usual carp tactics using boilie or pellet baits. Bream can be caught using usual Bream tactics using swimfeeder or groundbait and bomb. Best baits are maggot, caster, worm, corn, pellet and bread. Expect to pick up Roach and Tench on this method. Roach and Tench can also be taken using pole and waggler tactics.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Directions

From M65 leave at junction 13 head into Nelson town centre. At the lights in the town centre go straight on through the viaduct. At the roundabout turn right then at the next mini roundabout opposite the car wash turn left into Brunswick Street. Follow this road for about 1 mile and continue into an Industrial area past old mills. The road turns into a dirt track continue for about 300 yards leading into the car park.
